Our Client

ETL Systems are designers and manufacturers of high resilience products that are used in the ground segment
to distribute and enhance RF signals which are sent from satellites in space to an antenna on the ground and vice versa. The RF products are deployed in civilian environments by broadcasters and telecommunications companies and by military and governments in mission critical applications. The users of ETL’s equipment have high expectations as ETL Systems has a reputation for resilient and robust RF equipment. Therefore resilience, high performance and quality is expected of all components used within their designs, especially that of the Human Machine Interface.

The Problem

The monographic LCDs which had been used historically, no longer had the resolution, size or performance to display the information required and could not be interacted with via a touch screen, which made using the units cumbersome and inefficient. The footprint of the products is tight, so off the shelf solutions which were either too big or too small or not suited to the demanding environment would work.

Our Solution

Densitron supported ETL Systems to move to a high-resolution, full colour, touch enabled HMI. This solution fitted perfectly in the aperture and was rated to perform well even when used in direct sunlight outdoors or in extremes of temperatures. The addition of a high-end touch interface also made it easier for operators using the unit in the field, removing the need for cumbersome peripherals such as switches or rotary knobs, as the main functions can be controlled directly from the display. ETL Genus is a scalable 1,2 and 3U chassis options covering matrices, frequency converters, switches and Amplifiers
“Densitron’s 1U touchscreen was selected for its outstanding resolution and integrated touchscreen to give our products a unique competitive edge, providing a first class user experience. Densitron were able to provide a single point solution to help our products stand out from the crowd.” Simon Swift – Engineering Manager ETL Systems

Technical Detail

Densitron’s 6.6” TFT display with a 1440x240 resolution and an all round viewing angle supports -30 +85 Deg
C, whilst the enhanced Backlight gives 1000 Candela brightness, ample for sunlight readability. Combining these unique features with optical bonding and IPS mother glass delivers Densitron’s clients a very niche set of parameters.
